Indonesia Alyoum, in partnership with Rumah Amanah Wakaf Indonesia (RAWI) and Radio Salam, has officially signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish Radio Arakhbil (meaning Nusantara), a new radio station dedicated to Arabic-language broadcasting.

The signing ceremony took place on Friday (Jan. 23, 2026) at Sarang Oci Restaurant in Kwitang, Central Jakarta. The agreement was signed by the representatives of the three organizations: Arif Rahman, Director of RAWI; Muhammad Anas, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of Indonesia Alyoum; and Agustian from Radio Salam. The event was also attended by RAWI’s Supervisory Board Chairman, Abdur Rahman Irsyadi (ARI), and Sandi Suryadinata of Radio Salam.

Abdur Rahman Irsyadi welcomed the initiative, expressing hope that the creation of the Arabic-language radio station would strengthen ties between Indonesia and Arab nations across the Middle East.

“After 80 years of independence, we should realize the growing importance of Indonesia’s relationship with Middle Eastern countries. Indonesia has been known in the Arab world even before the arrival of Islam, notably through the ancient spice trade routes,” he said.

He added that the radio station is envisioned as a bridge for expanding cross-sector cooperation. “We hope this Arabic-language radio will continue to weave, reinforce, and revive bilateral, cultural, and investment partnerships that have long connected us,” Irsyadi added.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Anas described the collaboration as a new milestone for the development of Arabic-language media in Indonesia. He believes this initiative could pave the way for a broader Arabic-language media ecosystem in the country, including the potential future launch of an Arabic-language television channel.

Anas also expressed his gratitude to all collaborators, especially to RAWI’s Supervisory Board Chairman Abdur Rahman Irsyadi, for his support and attention in advancing Arabic-language broadcasting in Indonesia.

At the same event, Radio Salam founder Agustian voiced his full support for the Radio Arakhbil project, affirming that Radio Salam would handle the technical aspects of broadcasting.

“We hope this media initiative will be well-received by listeners in Indonesia as well as audiences across the Middle East,” he said.
