Indonesia’s skies are expected to be dominated by cloudy to overcast conditions on Monday, according to a weather forecast issued by the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

BMKG forecaster Bintari Ayuningtyas said in a statement from Jakarta on Monday that many regions across western Indonesia— including Pekanbaru, Tanjung Pinang, Jambi, Palembang, Pangkal Pinang, Yogyakarta, Pontianak, and Samarinda — are likely to experience cloudy to overcast weather. Meanwhile, Banda Aceh is forecast to have partly cloudy skies.

For eastern Indonesia, BMKG predicts mostly cloudy to overcast conditions in Makassar, Kendari, Mamuju, Gorontalo, Ternate, Sorong, and Nabire. In contrast, Manado is expected to enjoy relatively clearer weather with partly cloudy skies.

Ayuningtyas added that light rainfall is likely to occur in several cities, including Medan, Padang, Bengkulu, Bandar Lampung, Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya, Tanjung Selor, Palangkaraya, and Banjarmasin. Moderate rainfall, however, is expected in Serang.

BMKG further warned of potential thunderstorms in Merauke, along with light rain in Denpasar, Mataram, Kupang, Manokwari, Jayapura, and Jayawijaya. Hazy conditions may also affect parts of Palu due to low visibility and atmospheric moisture.

The agency continues to advise the public to stay alert to changing weather patterns, particularly during Indonesia’s transitional season, as fluctuating atmospheric conditions could influence local travel, agriculture, and maritime activities.
