Bali Airport Tightens Health Checks to Prevent Monkeypox Outbreak

Jakarta, Indonesianpost.com – The Port Health Office (KKP) collaborates with Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport operator Angkasa Pura I to prevent the spread of the Monkeypox virus. On Saturday, the Health Ministry confirmed that the virus had entered Indonesia.

“Especially to anticipate the spread of Monkeypox, we are working with the KKP, we have prepared thermo scanners,” the airport operator’s general manager Handy Heryudhitiawan said in Denpasar, Sunday, August 21.

The thermo scanners are placed in departure and arrival gates both in domestic and international terminals.

Handy said that if a passenger’s body temperature is above normal, they will undergo a medical check by the KKP.

“So far, we continue to coordinate with related parties to ensure further anticipation,” he told the media.

On Saturday, August 20, the Health Ministry’s spokesman Mohammad Syahril confirmed that a man in Jakarta had tested positive for Monkeypox. The patient had experienced symptoms such as fever and rashes after traveling overseas.
