“We are trying to make the pro-Anies coalition declaration before Ramadhan,” said the General Secretary of PKS, M Arifin, when contacted by detikcom on Monday (28/2/2022).
Arifin explained that there are still several parties being considered for the coalition, including the Gerindra Party, the Democratic Party, and the National Mandate Party (PAN). PKS is also still looking for a vice presidential candidate who can support Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.
“We are still communicating with the parties, including Gerindra, Democrats, and PAN. Regarding the vice presidential candidate, we have not yet decided on a name,” he said.

“We have not yet officially declared support for Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate, but we have shown our support,” said Arifin.
Anies Baswedan himself has not given a clear answer regarding his candidacy in the 2024 presidential election. However, he has stated that he is ready to contribute to the country’s progress in whatever capacity he can.
The 2024 presidential election is still far away, but political parties are already starting to build coalitions and prepare for the election.
