Jakarta, Indonesianpost.com – The National Police Headquarters is investigating the cause of the fire that occurred at the Pertamina Plumpang Depot in North Jakarta.
Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Headquarters, Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo, said that a team had been dispatched to the field. He said the labfor team had coordinated with the Criminal Investigation Unit and the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Jakarta Metro Police to examine the crime scene.

“After obtaining clearance from Pertamina’s Health Safety Environment (HSE), we will examine the crime scene. The temporary number of personnel involved is 9. The tools used are fire toolkits, drones, ash sampling equipment, and remote sensing technology,” said Dedi on Saturday, March 4, 2023.
In addition to investigating the cause of the fire, Dedi said that the National Police Headquarters was also assisting with the evacuation and identification of victims. He said that the National Police’s DVI and Inafis teams had also been dispatched on the same day.
“The Inafis team today is backing up the Jakarta Metro Police to examine the crime scene together with labfor and the Dokkes DVI team to carry out the identification process,” he said in a written statement.

Dedi said that the police had secured the area around the fire to prevent any unwanted incidents. “The police are securing the fire site both at the Plumpang Depot and at the locations of affected residents who have evacuated,” said Dedi.
Furthermore, Dedi said that the National Police Headquarters had set up several posts to assist in handling the disaster at the Pertamina Plumpang Depot fire. One of them, he said, was a post for reporting missing persons. “Setting up a public kitchen at the police post by the PMJ Mobile Brigade and assisting the BPBD evacuation post,” he said.
