Shin Tae-yong Praises Indonesian U-20 Players After Defeating Syria

Jakarta, Indonesianpost.com – The Indonesian U-20 national team successfully defeated Syria on the second matchday of the U-20 Asia Cup. Coach Shin Tae-Yong is pleased with his players’ hard-fought victory.

The Indonesian national team faced Syria at Lokomotiv Stadium, Tashkent, on Saturday (4/3/2023). Garuda Muda’s single goal was scored by Hokky Caraka in the 34th minute.

This result keeps Indonesia’s hopes alive of advancing to the quarterfinals after being defeated 0-2 by Iraq in the previous match. Indonesia currently has three points and sits in third place with one goal scored and two conceded.

Shin Tae-Yong is pleased with his players’ performance this time. Garuda Nusantara is considered to have fought until the end of the game.

“I thank the Indonesian players who have fought hard until the end of the game, they have shown an extraordinary attitude,” Shin said in a press conference after the match.

“In the past few days, we have been trying to build confidence in our players. I think our players have shown their capacity, maybe 80 percent of their capacity has been shown in their performance,” the South Korean coach continued.

Uzbekistan leads Group A with six points. Iraq is in second place with three points, ahead of Indonesia and Syria at the bottom of the standings with no points.
