Jakarta, Indonesianpost.com – Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas (Gus Yaqut) has expressed appreciation for the Saudi Arabian government’s efforts in improving the second wave of flights for Hajj pilgrims. He commended the Saudi government’s commitment to providing better services to Indonesian pilgrims.
“Alhamdulillah, based on today’s evaluation, there has been a significant improvement in the departure performance of pilgrims through Saudia Airlines. This is commendable. Our communication with the Saudi government, including the Saudi Ambassador and other parties, has been very effective, resulting in continuous improvements,” said Gus Yaqut in Jakarta on Monday (June 12, 2023).

According to Gus Yaqut, there has been a significant improvement in the on-time performance of flights operated by Saudia Airlines for Indonesian pilgrims. He highlighted the effective communication between the Indonesian and Saudi governments, including the Saudi Ambassador, which has contributed to these positive changes.
Gus Yaqut stated that the improved flight services demonstrate the Saudi government’s concern and dedication to serving Indonesian Hajj pilgrims. He expressed his gratitude to the Saudi Arabian government for its commitment and the enhanced level of service provided by Saudia Airlines.
The Minister of Religious Affairs also noted the increase in punctuality during the second wave of flights compared to the first wave. Despite being only the fifth day of the second wave, the punctuality rate has already surpassed 80%, whereas, during the first wave, it was around 70%.

Gus Yaqut emphasized that these improvements are essential in ensuring a smooth and efficient pilgrimage experience for Indonesian pilgrims. He thanked Saudia Airlines for its commitment to providing the best service possible to Indonesian Hajj pilgrims.
The second wave of departures for Indonesian pilgrims will continue until June 22, 2023. Pilgrims from Indonesia will land at King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah before proceeding to Makkah Al-Mukarramah.
