Jakarta, Indonesianpost.com – The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque (Masjidil Haram) and the Prophet’s Mosque has mobilized its significant human resources and technology in the Grand Mosque to welcome the Hajj pilgrims in 2023.
The General Presidency has deployed over 400 Saudi supervisors to oversee the field operations carried out by a large workforce of 4,000 male and female workers. They will clean the Grand Mosque no less than 10 times a day to ensure its cleanliness and sanctity.
They will also prepare and distribute 7,000 bottles of Zamzam water, with an additional 800 workers to serve the pilgrims throughout the Grand Mosque. Around 4,500 Zamzam water dispensers will also be strategically placed around the Grand Mosque.
Mohammed Al Jabri, the Assistant President for Technical, Field, and Service Affairs at the Grand Mosque, stated that the preparations by the Service and Field Affairs Body include the deployment of 5,000 regular vehicles and nearly 3,000 electric vehicles. All of these operations are coordinated through the TANAQOL application.
These extensive preparations aim to ensure the smooth and efficient management of the Grand Mosque during the Hajj season, providing pilgrims with a clean and comfortable environment and facilitating their religious rituals. The General Presidency is committed to providing the best services to the pilgrims and upholding the sanctity of the holy sites.

The plans of the organization also include routine sterilization efforts and supervision of vehicle operators, as well as providing guidance at the mosque entrances to streamline the entry of worshippers. “A total of 11 smart sterilization robots, capable of operating for up to eight hours without human intervention, will be used,” said Al Jabri.
Pre-programmed to sterilize every corner and crevice of the Grand Mosque, the robots will be supported by 20 Biocare dry steam sterilization devices for simultaneous air and surface sterilization. Additionally, fogging sterilizers will be used in hard-to-reach areas, and 600 hands-free hand sanitizers will be installed.
Several teams will work to sterilize the Grand Mosque, its outer courtyards, and toilets using over 70,000 liters of sterilization agents, following the highest international health standards for environmental prevention and epidemic control.

Al Jabri also highlighted plans to manage the entrances and corridors of the Grand Mosque, regulating the entry and exit of worshippers through doors and escalators, and directing them to designated prayer areas. These efforts will align with the approved operational plans by the president, ensuring a safe Hajj pilgrimage that fulfills the spiritual needs of all participants.
