Jakarta, Indonesianpost.com – Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung expressed optimism that skilled baristas will thrive if coffee becomes a flagship commodity for Indonesia.
“If coffee becomes one of the main commodities in this country, including Jakarta, I believe the lives of baristas will improve,” Anung said at the “World of Coffee Jakarta 2025” event held Saturday at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC).
He also expressed hope that Indonesia will soon produce highly skilled baristas to match the growing global prominence of Indonesian coffee.
“I am convinced that Indonesian coffee, which is beginning to dominate the world in quantity, will eventually produce baristas with extraordinary talent,” he added.

The Jakarta provincial government will support the coffee industry by facilitating permits, licensing, taxation, and other administrative processes to boost the sector.
The World of Coffee event, launched by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) in 1999, has grown into a major global coffee industry gathering with editions in Boston, Europe, Dubai, and Asia. It brings together producers, roasters, baristas, and manufacturers, featuring programs like the SCA Community Lounge and Roaster Village.
Anung highlighted that the event showcases some of the finest coffees and provides opportunities for farmers, producers, and distributors alike.
“This is also an opportunity for farmers, coffee producers, distributors, and others involved in the industry,” he said. (BL/Antara)
