Quick Summaries
  • Jakarta plans to develop Danau Cincin in Tanjung Priok into a public gathering space, with a museum included in the project.
  • Governor Pramono Anung said the site falls under the city’s Water Resources Agency and will be upgraded soon.
  • Pramono also criticized the long-unchanged entrance gate to Ancol, calling for updates.

The Jakarta provincial administration is set to develop Danau Cincin, also known as Waduk Cincin, in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta—an area popular for watching sunsets with the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) as a backdrop.

“Danau Cincin will be developed soon because it is an area managed under the Water Resources Agency,” Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said in the capital on Sunday.

Pramono said he and Deputy Governor Rano Karno had agreed to turn the Danau Cincin area into a new gathering point for residents. A museum is also planned for the site.

“The Deputy Governor and I have agreed that this will be a place where people can gather, and there will be a museum and so on,” he said.

Located in Papanggo, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, the Danau Cincin area is a green open space spanning around 50,000 square meters. It also includes an urban forest covering 8.4 hectares.

Separately, Pramono also commented on the entrance gate to the Ancol area, saying it has remained unchanged for years.

“How come it has been the same forever? From when my child was little until now—my child has already become a regent—and the gate hasn’t changed,” he said.
