Jakarta, Indonesianpost.com – According to a survey conducted by Media Survei Nasional (Median), 36 percent of netizens want more than three pairs of presidential and vice-presidential candidates in the 2024 election. “As many as 36 percent of netizens want more than three pairs in the upcoming 2024 presidential election,” said Median senior researcher Ade Irfan Abdurrahman when presenting the survey results in Jakarta on Tuesday (28/2/2023).
Meanwhile, he continued, 25.4 percent of other netizens want there to be three pairs. Next, 16.6 percent want two pairs, and 6 percent want only one presidential and vice-presidential pair. “Next, 16 percent of netizens stated that they did not know or did not answer,” Ade continued.

The median survey was conducted from February 22 to 26, 2023 by distributing questionnaires via Facebook and targeting active Facebook users aged 17 to their 60s.
The questionnaire form was distributed proportionally and spread to Facebook accounts with users throughout Indonesia. As a result, 400 respondents were gathered, spread over 38 provinces. One of the aims of the survey was to explore the perceptions of social media users or netizens.
“Considering that the sample is social media users, this survey is not intended to provide a picture of the population’s overall perceptions,” said Ade.
Based on the schedule set by the Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU), the registration of presidential and vice-presidential candidates is scheduled to begin from October 19 to November 25, 2023.

Based on Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections (UU Pemilu), presidential and vice-presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or a coalition of political parties participating in the elections that meet the requirements for acquiring at least 20 percent of seats in the House of Representatives or obtaining 25 percent of valid votes nationally in the previous DPR member elections.
Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so presidential and vice-presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election must have a minimum of 115 seats in the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI). Alternatively, the candidate pair can be supported by political parties or a coalition of political parties participating in the 2019 Elections with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
