Jakarta, Indonesianpost.com – The Golkar Party and PAN have agreed to join the coalition with Gerindra and PKB for the 2024 Elections. This coalition aims to support the Chairman of Gerindra, Prabowo Subianto, as a presidential candidate in the 2024 Presidential Election.

The declaration of Golkar and PAN joining the coalition was held at the Museum of Proclamation Manuscripts (Munasprok) in Jakarta on Sunday (13/8) morning WIB. The respective party chairmen were present and spoke during the declaration.
The Chairman of Golkar, Airlangga Hartarto, stated that his party’s support for Prabowo is rooted in the historical closeness between the Minister of Defense and Golkar.
“Why did Golkar choose Prabowo? It is because Lieutenant General Prabowo was born from the womb of the Golkar Party. Therefore, he has participated in various activities within Golkar, and his contributions are undeniable. This is an egalitarian, unanimous decision with Golkar, Mr. Prabowo,” Airlangga said in his declaration speech.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of PAN, Zulkifli Hasan, officially expressed hope that PAN’s support along with other parties could lead Prabowo to become the elected president in the 2024 Presidential Election.
“Hopefully, together with PKB, Gerindra, Golkar, as well as PAN and other party colleagues, we can accomplish this. Insha’Allah, in February 2024, Mr. Prabowo will become the President of Indonesia,” said Zulkifli.
The support from PAN and Golkar further strengthens Prabowo’s position as a presidential candidate. Previously, Prabowo was only supported by Gerindra and PKB.
However, in this new coalition, an agreement has not yet been reached regarding the candidate for vice president to accompany Prabowo.
Several names for the vice-presidential candidate to accompany Prabowo have been circulated, one of them being the Chairman of PKB, Muhaimin Iskandar. In addition, there is also speculation about pairing Prabowo with the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Erick Thohir, who has recently been highlighted by PAN.
