PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) has reported a significant surge in the number of foreign nationals using the Whoosh high-speed train service throughout 2025.

According to KCIC Corporate Secretary General Manager Eva Chairunisa, the total number of foreign passengers reached 401,282 in 2025—an increase of more than 60 percent compared to 251,525 passengers recorded in 2024.

“This upward trend demonstrates growing trust among international tourists in the Whoosh service as a reliable, comfortable, and efficient mode of transportation during their stay in Indonesia,” Eva said in a written statement on Monday (Jan. 26, 2026) in Jakarta.

Cumulatively, from 2023 to 2025, the total number of foreign passengers on Whoosh reached 681,713. The figure reflects a widening acceptance among international travelers and strengthens Whoosh’s reputation as an attractive option for international mobility.

Eva emphasized that the consistent increase in the number of foreign passengers serves as a key indicator of KCIC’s commitment to maintaining the quality of its service.

“The consistent growth of foreign passengers indicates that Whoosh is increasingly trusted by international tourists in terms of safety, comfort, and accessibility,” she added.

Throughout its operation, Malaysian travelers have become the largest group of foreign Whoosh users, totaling 298,531 passengers. They are followed by tourists from Singapore with 83,371 passengers, China with 59,893, Japan with 32,176, and South Korea with 21,974 passengers.

“KCIC views the rising number of international passengers as a reflection of the growing tourism activities, international mobility, and the broader global awareness of the Whoosh high-speed train service,” Eva said.

She added that KCIC remains committed to improving service quality and strengthening transport integration to make the system more traveler-friendly for foreign visitors.

“Whoosh is not only a means of transportation but also an integral part of the travel experience for international tourists visiting Indonesia. The consistent use by tourists from various countries highlights the global competitiveness of Whoosh’s service,” Eva stated.
