Banda Aceh, Indonesianpost.com – Retrieved from Antara, The Aceh provincial government, in collaboration with the Bank Indonesia office in Banda Aceh, has launched Indonesia’s first halal, safe, and healthy culinary zone at Zainoel Abidin Public Hospital (RSUDZA), claiming it as a groundbreaking initiative.

Restu Andi Surya, an expert staff for financial economy and development at the Aceh regional administration, shared that the culinary zone, which currently features 20 food stalls, is located within the hospital’s cooperative unit canteen.

Out of the 20 food stalls operated by small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), 17 have already obtained halal certification, while the remaining three are awaiting the final review by the halal certification team, Surya explained in a press statement to ANTARA on Sunday.

“This initiative positions RSUDZA not only as a trusted healthcare provider but also as a culinary destination for those seeking halal and healthy food, adhering to strict halal standards,” Surya stated.

The culinary zone is designed to provide hospital visitors with not just delicious meals but also meals that are guaranteed to be halal, safe, and healthy, all prepared by certified culinary MSMEs.

Surya also emphasized that this government-backed project aims to raise awareness among both local residents and international visitors about the importance of halal, safe, and healthy food. Additionally, it is expected to strengthen public trust in Aceh as a region committed to halal food standards.

“This culinary zone is part of our broader efforts to position Aceh as a key player in the halal product ecosystem, both nationally and globally,” he concluded. (BL)
