The National Alms Agency (Baznas) has launched the Cendekia Digital Academy (CDA), a new program aimed at strengthening digital education through the development of educational games powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and gamification for various school subjects as well as zakat literacy.

Baznas collection deputy Rizaludin Kurniawan said CDA was introduced as the agency’s response to the rapid pace of digital technological change, while also encouraging learning innovations considered more relevant for younger generations by combining structured play and learning.

“Cendekia Digital Academy is one of Baznas’ efforts to introduce the concepts of smart play and smart giving through collaboration on educational games for a caring generation. For Baznas, this program matters because our presence is essentially to cultivate social concern,” Rizaludin said in a statement issued in Jakarta on Saturday.

He described the program as timely and strategic amid accelerating digital transformation, particularly in education. “The use of technology is seen as key to reaching young people with learning methods that are more engaging,” he added.

Rizaludin said the launch of CDA coincided with Baznas’ 25th anniversary, a moment the agency used to reaffirm its focus on channeling zakat funds to education as part of broader community empowerment efforts.

“Baznas’ main focus remains on the poor, especially ensuring that those who cannot afford it are able to access education through zakat funds. Beyond helping students attend school, Baznas also seeks to empower teachers by improving their capacity and competence through mentoring. This is the breakthrough we want to continue pushing at Baznas’ 25th year,” he said.

Rizaludin emphasized that the program was part of these efforts, serving as a platform to develop teachers’ competencies in zakat literacy, raise zakat awareness, and support other learning objectives.

“Through these steps, we hope Islamic and humanitarian values will continue to grow, producing a generation that is intelligent, faithful and driven by a spirit of care,” Rizaludin Kurniawan said.
