Indonesia wins maiden gold in shooting at Asian Games
Hangzhou, Indonesianpost.com – Indonesian shooter Muhammad Sejahtera Dwi Putra won the first gold medal for the country at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou in the men’s 10-meter running target event at the Fuyang Yinhu Sports Center on Monday.
With a score of 578, Putra edged out Vietnam’s Huu Vuong Ngo (571) and South Korea’s Jeong You Jin (565) to claim first place.

Putra also secured a bronze medal in the men’s running target team event with Akbar Muhammad Badri and Julio Irfandi. The trio scored 1,667 points, losing narrowly to North Korea who took the silver with a score of 1,668.
The South Korean team struck gold with the same score as North Korea, but more 10s, 39 to 29.
Putra’s achievement in Hangzhou marks a historic moment as the first gold for Indonesian shooters in Asian Games history.
In the previous games in Jakarta in 2018, the Indonesia shooting team won a silver medal in the 10m running target mixed team event.

Indonesia has sent 23 shooters to compete at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou. The Indonesian Shooting Federation is aiming for three medals in the multi-sport event, which is held every four years.
