The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek), in cooperation with the Education Fund Management Institution (LPDP), will soon open registration for the Garuda S1 Scholarship 2026. Applications are set to open on Feb. 15, 2026.

The Garuda S1 Scholarship focuses on strategic fields of study. Applicants are also expected to demonstrate outstanding achievements to be considered, according to a post on the @kemdiktisaintek Instagram account on Tuesday (Jan. 27, 2026).

Although the scholarship is part of the Garuda School ecosystem program, it is not limited to students from Garuda Schools. The program is open to students from all types of senior high schools or equivalent institutions.

Priority fields for Garuda Scholarship 2026

The scholarship will prioritize eight fields of study:

  1. Energy (renewable energy, hydrogen, modular nuclear technology, household fuel cells)

  2. Maritime (autonomous vessels, green shipping, integrated fisheries industry, smart ports)

  3. Health (vaccines, pharmaceutical technology, bioinformatics, AI-based medical devices, stem cells)

  4. Food security (food security, precision agriculture technology, agritech, local food and urban farming)

  5. Defense (advanced defense technology, self-reliance in primary weapons systems, precision control systems)

  6. AI-driven digitalization and semiconductors (artificial intelligence, internet of things, chip design, cybersecurity systems, supercomputers)

  7. Downstreaming and industrialization (value-added natural resources, industrial raw materials, research-based processing industries)

  8. Advanced materials and manufacturing (industrial robotics technology, advanced manufacturing and materials)

In addition, Garuda Scholarship 2026 names two supporting priority fields: business and economics, and law and public policy.

Registration documents for Garuda Scholarship 2026

Before applying, students are required to prepare the following documents to be uploaded during registration:

Report cards for semesters 1–5 with a minimum average score of 85
Proof of achievement at the national or international level (for competitions organized by the National Achievement Center, winner certificates can be downloaded at www.puspesnas.go.id)
A health certificate from a medical facility such as a hospital
A drug-free certificate issued by the authorized institution
