Citing Channel News Asia on Monday (Feb. 9, 2026), the driver involved in the traffic incident that killed the 6-year-old has been arrested. The person was detained on suspicion of driving without due care and causing death.

Singapore police earlier said the driver, a 38-year-old woman, had been assisting with investigations.

Separately, Antara quoted Heni Hamidah, acting director for the protection of Indonesian nationals at the Foreign Ministry, as saying the ministry had also received information that the driver who struck the victims had been detained by law enforcement authorities. The driver is a foreign woman residing in Singapore.

As previously reported, a 6-year-old child died from her injuries after she and her mother were hit by a car in Singapore’s Chinatown. Both were Indonesian tourists.

Malaymail, citing The Straits Times on Sunday (Feb. 8), reported that the Indonesian tourists were struck in a parking area next to the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple on South Bridge Road at around 11:50 a.m. on Feb. 6.

Police said the 31-year-old mother and her daughter were conscious when taken to Singapore General Hospital. However, the girl later died from her injuries.

Photos of the incident uploaded to the SG Road Vigilante Facebook page showed a man holding the young girl by the roadside.

The caption said the crash happened as the driver was turning out of the parking lot.
