- Prabowo is expected to visit the US soon to attend the first Board of Peace meeting and sign an Agreement on Reciprocal Tariff, Airlangga said.
- The government has not disclosed the tariff details, saying they will be announced later.
- Indonesia says it will use the Board of Peace forum to advocate civilian protection, Gaza reconstruction, and a two-state solution for Palestine.
President Prabowo Subianto is set to travel to the United States in the coming days to attend the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace and to sign an agreement related to US import tariffs, Coordinating Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto said on Wednesday.
Airlangga told reporters at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta that the President is scheduled to attend the event on Feb. 19, and that a signing is also planned around the same date for the Agreement on Reciprocal Tariff (ART).
He declined to disclose the tariff figure or other key details of the arrangement, saying the public should wait for an official announcement.
Earlier, the Foreign Ministry also confirmed Prabowo’s attendance at the first meeting of the Board of Peace, an initiative established by US President Donald Trump.
“We can inform you that, as the Foreign Minister has conveyed, the government has received an invitation to the inaugural Board of Peace meeting, and President Prabowo Subianto will attend,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Vahd Nabyl Achmad Mulachela said when contacted for confirmation.
He added that Indonesia plans to use the Board of Peace forum to push for stronger civilian protection, support recovery and reconstruction efforts in Gaza, and pursue a just and sustainable peace for Palestine based on the two-state solution.
