Jakarta – Indonesia has fiercely condemned Israel’s strikes on multiple areas in Lebanon, including Beirut, which killed civilians and devastated infrastructure.

Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry stated that the attacks represent a grave violation of international law, including international humanitarian law.

The strikes also “risk worsening regional tensions that threaten global security,” the ministry said in a statement on X on Thursday (April 9).

Indonesia demands that Israel immediately halt the violence and aggression in Lebanon, while stressing the need to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure in line with international law.

It also urged all conflicting parties to exercise restraint, pursue de-escalation efforts, prioritize dialogue, and avoid actions that could further deteriorate the situation.

Meanwhile, massive airstrikes were reported in Beirut on Wednesday amid escalating clashes with Hezbollah.

The assault is described as the largest wave since the conflict erupted on March 2.

The death toll stands at least at 254 people, including 92 in Beirut.

The escalation came after the United States and Iran announced a two-week ceasefire deal on Tuesday.

Iran has insisted that halting attacks in Lebanon is part of that agreement.

However, the US maintains the deal does not cover the Lebanon conflict. US President Donald Trump called the Lebanon situation a “separate conflict.”
