JAKARTA, INDONESIANPOST.COM – As the world’s largest consumer of cooking oil, generates over 3 million kiloliters of used cooking oil annually. Unfortunately, much of this waste pollutes the environment, clogging drains, damaging ecosystems, and causing various health issues.

Established in 2018 in East Jakarta, Tunasmuda Care Foundation (T.CARE) introduced the program “Amanah: Amal dengan Jelantah”, a community-based initiative that collects used cooking oil from thousands of households, schools, and small businesses to be processed into biodiesel. Through this program, more than 564 women have been empowered as community leaders, opening new economic opportunities for themselves and their families.

Seeing the positive impact achieved, T.CARE plans to expand the program by increasing the number of collection centers in five major cities in Indonesia, establishing partnerships with local organizations, and leveraging digital strategies to involve more participants. This effort is expected to significantly increase the collection of used cooking oil and amplify the economic and environmental benefits of the program.

“We believe that great changes start with small steps taken together. Through Amanah, we want to prove that waste management not only saves the environment but also transforms the lives of many, especially women,” said Luthfiah Fadlun, a representative from T.CARE.

Thanks to the tangible impact created, T.CARE’s Amanah program has received recognition from various stakeholders, including the Jakarta Provincial Environmental Agency and international partners. At the end of 2024, T.CARE was honored as the Global Winner of the Continuum Spark Award 2024 at The GMW Summit in Doha, Qatar. This event was organized by the GMW Network, a global community that connects Muslim entrepreneurs, creators, innovators, and professionals to foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and development in the Islamic economy.
