- BNN is intensifying efforts to protect children from drug abuse through its national Ananda Bersinar campaign, in collaboration with the PPPA Ministry.
- Indonesia is strengthening cross-agency cooperation to promote early drug prevention among children and build a drug-free generation.
- Renewed partnership between BNN and the PPPA Ministry will drive sustainable child protection and anti-drug programs at national and regional levels.
Jakarta – Indonesia’s National Narcotics Agency (BNN) is stepping up efforts to safeguard children from drug abuse by promoting the “Ananda Bersinar” (Drug-Free Children) movement, a nationwide initiative aimed at early prevention.
BNN chief Comr. Gen. Suyudi Ario Seto said the agency shares overlapping responsibilities with the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), creating strong potential for collaboration in protecting the nation’s younger generation.
“The alignment in our priorities opens wide opportunities for both institutions to develop collaborative programs, particularly as the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking coincides closely with National Children’s Day,” Suyudi said in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Friday.
The Ananda Bersinar initiative is a strategic national campaign launched by BNN to educate and protect children from the dangers of narcotics from an early age.
Marking this year’s International Day Against Drug Abuse, Suyudi noted that BNN would not hold large ceremonial events. Instead, the agency aims to work closely with the PPPA Ministry to deliver programs that create tangible impact for communities.
During a meeting in Jakarta on Wednesday (June 10), both institutions discussed plans for joint activities to commemorate National Children’s Day and the 2026 anti-drug campaign, while also exploring the renewal of their memorandum of understanding (MoU) and cooperation agreement.
PPPA Minister Arifatul Choiri Fauzi welcomed the initiative, emphasizing that both institutions share a common mission to shield children from various threats, including drug abuse.
“Our goals are essentially the same. I see significant potential for synergy between the PPPA Ministry’s programs and BNN’s initiatives to deliver broader benefits,” Arifatul said.
Beyond planning joint commemorative events, both parties agreed to strengthen their partnership through the renewal of the MoU, which expired in 2025.
To follow up on the collaboration, BNN and the PPPA Ministry will establish a joint task force to prepare and implement sustainable programs at both national and regional levels.
