JAKARTA, INDONESIANPOST.COM — Soekarno-Hatta International Airport’s Terminal 1C officially reopens on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, showcasing a modernized design and significantly expanded capacity. The revitalized terminal can now accommodate up to 10 million passengers per year, a sharp increase from the previous 3 million.
According to Heru Karyadi, General Manager of the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Branch Office, the terminal’s upgraded interior merges contemporary aesthetics with Indonesia’s rich cultural identity. Featuring terracotta bricks, local decorative elements, and cutting-edge spatial planning, the design reflects both modern efficiency and traditional warmth.
Heru explained that the hybrid concept aims not only to elevate the terminal’s appearance but also to convey Indonesia’s signature hospitality, ensuring travelers experience a balance of comfort and cultural pride. “The renovation of Terminal 1C demonstrates Soekarno-Hatta Airport’s commitment to modern facilities while preserving Indonesia’s distinctive character,” Heru said on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia’s Soekarno-Hatta Airport Branch confirmed that Terminal 1C is fully prepared for operations as of Wednesday. The initiative is part of an ongoing effort to enhance airport services and improve terminal capacity for smoother passenger flow and efficient flight operations.
Heru emphasized that the reopening of Terminal 1C represents a key milestone in improving service quality for travelers. “This is not merely an operational adjustment but also part of our ongoing mission to provide a seamless and memorable travel experience for all users,” he said.
Citilink to Centralize Domestic Operations
Terminal 1C will serve as the main hub for all domestic Citilink flights starting November 12. The terminal has partially served Citilink domestic operations since August 22, 2025, but with full operation now in effect, all departures and arrivals for the airline are centralized in this revamped facility.
Heru stated that the consolidation aligns with Soekarno-Hatta’s rebalancing policy, aimed at distributing operations and services evenly across all terminals. The strategy ensures optimal functionality, comfort, and smoother travel for all passengers. He confirmed that Terminal 1C’s operational readiness supports efficient flight activities across the facility.
The airport management encourages travelers, particularly Citilink passengers, to double-check their departure and arrival details following the service relocation to Terminal 1C to ensure a smooth and comfortable journey. (Tempo/Bilah)
