President Jokowi hands social aid at Pucang Anom Market
Surabaya, Indonesianpost.com – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) handed over direct cash assistance (BLT) and basic necessities to hundreds of traders and residents at Pucang Anom Market in Pucangsewu, Gubeng, Surabaya City, East Java Province, on Sunday.
Along the road to the market, he was welcomed by hundreds of elementary and junior high school students of Surabaya City who waited for him while carrying the national flag.
Accompanied by First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo, East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, Mayor of Surabaya Eri Cahyadi, and other officials, the President was greeted by local traders upon arrival at the market.
In addition to handing over the social aid, the President also held a dialogue with the merchants.
He also gave some t-shirts to the crowds and took photos with a number of residents.
Thereafter, President Jokowi and First Lady Iriana went to the Gelora 10 November Stadium to attend the ‘Sapu Lidi’ East Java One Command Concert.
One of the traders at Pucang Anom Market, Chotilah, thanked the head of the state for the assistance. Chotilah said she would use the aid as additional business capital.
Meanwhile, Sutiyati, who works as a tailor, said that she was greatly helped by the assistance provided by the government so far.
Also accompanying the President during the visit were Minister/State Secretary Pratikno and Head of Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono.
The President is scheduled to pay a two-day working visit to East Java.
After spending the night in Surabaya on Sunday, he will leave for Gresik District to inaugurate a mango food estate, which is an integrated and sustainable horticulture center as well as Sidoarjo District to distribute land certificates on Monday.
