PLN Jakarta serves 21,461 EV charging transactions in 44 stations

Jakarta, Indonesianpost.com – The trend of electric vehicle charging station (SPKLU) usage in Jakarta continues to increase with electricity consumption reaching 438,402 kWh from January to August 2023, state-run electricity company PT PLN said.

PLN’s Main Unit Distribution (UID) for Greater Jakarta during the period has served 21,461 electric charging transactions in 44 public EV charging stations with 72 chargers, PLN UID Jakarta’s General Manager Lasiran said.

“The number of electric vehicle users in Jakarta is increasing day by day. Therefore, we are also trying to prepare charging station infrastructure that is easily accessible to electric vehicle users, and of course, collaborating with other parties,” Lasiran said in an official statement received here on Sunday.

Lasiran said that PLN UID Jakarta is committed to continuing to support the growth of the electric vehicle ecosystem in the capital city.

Apart from SPKLU, the company also facilitates the provision of the Public Electric Vehicle Battery Exchange Stations (SPBKLU).

Currently, there are 245 locations of SPBKLU with 290 cabinets. SPBKLU is used to charge or replace electric motorbike batteries whose users are dominated by online motorcycle taxi drivers.

PLN UID Jakarta has also provided 3,441 Public Electric Charging Stations (SPLU) spread across the city with consumption reaching 1,359,587 kWh during the period of January to August 2023.

SPLU provided by PLN can be used to charge electric vehicle batteries, such as motorbikes, bicycles, and electric scooters. Not only that, SPLU is also widely used by street vendors, both in markets and other public facilities.

In the future, PLN UID Jakarta plans to add 20 SPKLU, seven of which are the Ultra Fast Charging type which allows electric car drivers to charge the battery fully within 30 minutes.
