Indonesia and France Set Long-Term Diplomatic Goals for the Next 100 Years
Jakarta, Indonesianpost.com – Reported by Antara, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and French President Emmanuel Macron have agreed to establish a joint vision for the next 100 years of diplomatic relations, aiming for the year 2050.
The announcement was made by President Prabowo during a joint press conference with President Macron on Wednesday, following Macron’s state visit to Indonesia to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Indonesia-France diplomatic ties.
“We have agreed to move forward with a joint vision declaration towards 100 years of Indonesia-France relations by 2050,” Prabowo said.
Prabowo emphasized that the 75 years of diplomatic ties between the two nations hold significant importance. He also noted that Indonesia and France have enjoyed a strategic partnership since 2011.
The shared vision for the next century of relations is focused on strengthening cooperation in strategic areas. In addition, Prabowo warmly welcomed Macron’s state visit, noting that he is the first European Union head of state to visit Indonesia since Prabowo’s election as president.

“This visit demonstrates the closeness and strong friendship between our two countries. Thank you once again for this esteemed visit,” Prabowo said.
Both leaders also introduced a strategic cultural declaration, underscoring their shared commitment to cultural cooperation. Prabowo explained that this declaration would guide future collaboration in various cultural fields and the creative economy, contributing to economic and social development.
President Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron were received by President Prabowo at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta. The two leaders held a bilateral meeting with their respective delegations and witnessed the signing of several agreements.
Later that evening, the two presidents are scheduled to dine together at the State Palace in Jakarta.
President Macron’s visit to Jakarta and Magelang from May 27 to 29, 2025, is part of his Indo-Pacific tour, which includes stops in Vietnam, Indonesia, and Singapore. (BL)
