Indonesia Set to Compete for Four Golds in Asian Cup Woodball Tournament

Jakarta, Indonesianpost.com – Reported by Antara, The Indonesian Woodball Association (IWbA) is setting its sights on four gold medals at the upcoming Asian Cup Woodball Championship, scheduled to take place in Bogor, West Java, from August 18–25, 2025.

The goal was announced by IWbA Chairperson Aang Sunadji during the signing of a memorandum of understanding for the event’s implementation in Jakarta on Monday.

Sunadji revealed that the championship will feature 15 participating countries, each sending 10 athletes. As the host nation, Indonesia is determined to emerge as the overall champion, targeting four gold medals.

He added that the competition will include events such as stroke, fairway, and team events, all of which will also be contested at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand. This provides an important opportunity for Indonesian woodball athletes to showcase their skills ahead of the SEA Games.

“We are confident that Indonesia will perform well, given our athletes’ strong track record at the international level,” Sunadji stated.

He pointed out that Indonesia’s woodball achievements, including their victory as world champions in 2019 and their gold medal performance at the 2024 World Cup Woodball Championship, have fueled the team’s optimism for upcoming tournaments like the Asian Cup and the SEA Games.

The signing ceremony was attended by several distinguished guests, including the President of the International Woodball Federation (IWBF), Sean Chi-Hsiang Weng, and Vice President of the Asian Woodball Federation (AWBF), NG Lai Ling, among others. (BL)
