- The Ciliwung River overflowed after overnight local rain, flooding 38 RTs across two subdistricts in East Jakarta, with water reaching up to 3.5 meters in some areas.
- BPBD reported 581 families (1,830 people) affected across five urban villages, with Kramat Jati—especially Cililitan, Cawang, and Balekambang—among the hardest hit.
- Authorities continued monitoring and deployed personnel amid concerns of additional rises linked to rainfall in upstream and local catchments.
Ciliwung River overflow, triggered by local rainfall, once again caused flooding across 38 neighborhood units (RT) in East Jakarta, with water levels reaching up to 3 meters on Friday morning.
“Flooding has inundated 38 RTs in two subdistricts, with water levels in several spots reaching up to more than 3 meters. The cause across all locations is the overflow of the Ciliwung River, worsened by local rain,” East Jakarta BPBD Regional Coordination Task Force head Ali Kojim said on Friday.
Rain that fell over Jakarta from Thursday night (Jan. 29) through Friday morning continued to push water levels higher.
As of 6:00 a.m. WIB, flooding had spread across two subdistricts, five urban villages (kelurahan), and 13 community units (RW), affecting 581 families (1,830 people).
The worst-hit area was Kramat Jati subdistrict, particularly the urban villages of Cililitan, Cawang, and Balekambang.
In Cililitan, floodwaters inundated the area around Musholla Al Hikmah Street, RW 07 RT 06, as well as Seruni Street, RT 004 RW 06.
Water levels at both locations were recorded at 200 centimeters and remained at that level from 3:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.
The most extreme conditions were recorded in Cawang, specifically around Taman Harapan Street, RW 03, where water began rising before dawn and continued to climb from 210 centimeters at 1:00 a.m. to 350 centimeters between 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.
Flooding of up to 3 meters was also reported on Raya Kalibata Street, Haji Maliki Alley, RW 05, where the area was submerged by as much as 350 centimeters on Friday morning. Floodwaters also covered parts of Raya Kalibata Street, RT 010 and RT 012 RW 05.
Water began rising around midnight, starting at 20 centimeters and increasing gradually to 150 centimeters by 6:00 a.m. A similar water level was reported on Tanjung Sanyang Street, RW 08.
In Balekambang, flooding inundated Balai Rakyat Street, RT 005 RW 05. Water levels fluctuated, from 100 centimeters around midnight to 165 centimeters at 5:00 a.m., before easing slightly to 155 centimeters later in the morning.
BPBD East Jakarta also recorded flooding spreading into Jatinegara subdistrict, specifically in the urban villages of Kampung Melayu and Bidara Cina.
In Kampung Melayu, inundation was reported on Kebon Pala II Street, RW 04 and RW 05. In RW 04, water levels rose from 90 centimeters before dawn to 150 centimeters by 6:00 a.m.
“Meanwhile in RW 05, water continued to rise and reached 185 centimeters in the morning,” Ali said.
Flooding was also reported in the Tanah Rendah Street area, RW 07, covering eight RTs. Water levels there were lower, ranging from 60 to 70 centimeters, but still disrupted residents’ activities.
In Bidara Cina, flooding inundated Baiduri Bulan Street, RW 03 and RW 11. Water levels rose gradually from 60 centimeters at 1:00 a.m. to 170 centimeters by 6:00 a.m.
On Tanjung Lengkong Street, Macan Alley, RW 07, water levels rose sharply to 200 centimeters and remained high into the morning.
Ali said BPBD East Jakarta continued intensive monitoring across all affected areas.
Personnel have been placed on standby to anticipate possible further increases, as Ciliwung River conditions may still change depending on rainfall upstream and local precipitation.
By Friday morning, several parts of East Jakarta remained inundated with varying water levels, while response efforts and inter-agency coordination continued.
