Indonesian photographer Hengki Koentjoro’s work is being exhibited at the Xposure International Photography Festival 2026, held in Aljada, Sharjah, the United Arab Emirates, from Jan. 29 to Feb. 4.

According to a press release from the Indonesian Consulate General in Dubai (KJRI Dubai) received on Monday, Xposure International Photography Festival 2026 features both photojournalism and visual art photography.

Now in its 10th edition under the theme “A Decade of Visual Storytelling,” Xposure presents more than 3,200 photographs alongside panel discussions and workshops, involving over 420 photographers and visual creators from more than 60 countries.

“Hengki Koentjoro’s participation in the 10th edition of Xposure shows that Indonesian photographers’ work can compete and be recognized on the world stage,” Indonesia’s Consul General in Dubai, Denny Lesmana, said.

“The Indonesian visual identity presented carries strong philosophical depth and goes beyond merely representing exotic beauty,” he added.

Hengki Koentjoro is presenting a black-and-white photo series titled “Liquid Planet” at the Xposure International Photography Festival 2026.

He portrays natural landscapes through a long-exposure approach, monochromatic aesthetics and the concept of slow photography. His works are seen as reflecting stillness, balance and spiritual values.

“Through these works, Hengki Koentjoro has successfully shown that Indonesian photography has narrative strength rooted in observation, patience and an awareness of the importance of nature conservation,” Denny said.

Photography is also seen as a tool of diplomacy to introduce Indonesia’s natural and cultural wealth to international audiences.

Through participation in international exhibitions such as Xposure, Indonesian photographers are expected to convey a Nusantara visual narrative that encompasses natural beauty, culture and the conservation of natural resources.

“Although currently only one Indonesian photographer is appearing as a main exhibition participant, we hope that in the future more national talents will be present with diverse perspectives, from photojournalism to nature conservation,” Denny said.

“This will strengthen Indonesia’s representation in the global creative industry,” he added.
