Jakarta – Indonesia and France have reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing a two-state solution as the only viable path toward Palestinian independence and lasting peace in the Middle East.

President Prabowo Subianto made the statement following a bilateral meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace on Thursday, underscoring the alignment between Jakarta and Paris on one of the world’s most enduring geopolitical conflicts.

Prabowo stressed that stability in the Middle East remains a global priority, particularly due to its direct impact on energy supply chains. He noted that France has consistently positioned itself as a key advocate for the two-state solution and Palestinian statehood.

According to Prabowo, Indonesia firmly believes that sustainable peace in the region cannot be achieved without ensuring justice for the Palestinian people through the establishment of two sovereign states. He added that both countries are well-placed to play a constructive role amid rising geopolitical tensions and global uncertainty.

Indonesia, he said, remains committed to supporting diplomatic initiatives aimed at preserving global peace. Prabowo also highlighted that in an increasingly interconnected world shaped by rapid technological advancement, armed conflict no longer provides meaningful solutions.

“We welcome the comprehensive strategic partnership that continues to grow between our countries and look forward to more concrete, balanced and impactful cooperation in the future,” Prabowo said.

The bilateral meeting also covered a range of strategic sectors, including defense cooperation, clean energy development, education, research collaboration and ongoing progress toward the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA).
