Jakarta — CV Yong Fisheries has carried out its third live grouper export to Hong Kong in 2026, reinforcing Indonesia’s position in the global seafood trade.

In this latest shipment, the company exported 4,625 kilograms of live grouper sourced from the waters of Dusun Ubur, Southeast Maluku Regency. The shipment was transported via the MV Great Fortune vessel between June 1 and June 3, 2026.

According to Tual Customs, the company has exported a cumulative total of 21,091 kilograms of grouper so far this year, generating foreign exchange earnings of approximately US$290,471.

The figures highlight the significant potential of Maluku’s fisheries sector as a key driver of regional exports. The continued success also strengthens Maluku’s reputation as a leading producer of high-value seafood commodities sought after in international markets.

“This export demonstrates that marine products from eastern Indonesia are capable of meeting the stringent quality standards of global markets, particularly for live fish commodities,” said Tual Customs Office head Wahyu Lafrias in a statement on Friday.

Hong Kong remains one of Asia’s primary markets for live seafood, where freshness and product quality are critical factors.

The shipment consisted of several high-value grouper species, including batik grouper, tiger grouper, mouse grouper, mangrove grouper, coral trout, and mixed grouper varieties. All fish were transported alive to ensure optimal quality upon arrival at their destination.

Wahyu emphasized that Tual Customs is committed to supporting export activities through effective supervision and efficient customs services, ensuring that regional products remain competitive in global markets.

“We hope this export activity can be sustained consistently, contributing to regional economic growth, particularly in Tual and surrounding areas,” he added.
