Visited by Defense Minister Khalid, Prabowo Hopes Indonesian Defense Industry Can Be Part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision
Jakarta, Indonesianpost.com – Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto received a visit from Saudi Arabian Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz and his delegation at the Ministry of Defense office in Jakarta on Tuesday (August 1, 2023).
During the meeting, Defense Minister Prabowo expressed his confidence in Saudi Arabia’s ability to achieve Vision 2030. He also hoped that the Indonesian defense industry could be part of that vision.
“It is expected that the defense relationship between the two countries will become stronger and develop rapidly,” said Prabowo, as quoted in the Ministry of Defense’s press release on Wednesday (August 2, 2023).
It is known that bilateral relations and defense cooperation between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia have been established since 2014 through the Defense Cooperation Agreement (DCA).
In the meeting, the Saudi Arabian delegation also received presentations from the CEOs of PT LEN Industri, PT Pindad, PT Dirgantara Indonesia, PT PAL Indonesia, and PT Dahana.
Indonesia and Saudi Arabia are also committed to strengthening educational cooperation through student exchanges between their respective armed forces institutions.
“We hope that in the future, the defense ministries of both countries can enhance defense cooperation in the fields of education, training, and others,” said Prabowo.
Meanwhile, Defense Minister Khalid stated that cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Indonesia needs to be enhanced for mutual interests and to maintain international peace and security.
“It is expected that the excellent cooperation between the two Defense Ministries will be mutually beneficial for both countries. I strongly agree that cooperation in various fields should be further enhanced,” Khalid said.
