Jakarta, Indonesianpost.com – The Indonesian Hajj Organizing Committee (PPIH) is offering 32 low-deck, disability-friendly buses to assist Indonesian Hajj pilgrims traveling between their hotels and the Great Mosque of Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

Akhmad Fauzin, Head of Public Relations at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, announced the service during an online press conference on Tuesday. He emphasized that the buses, known as Shalawat Buses, reflect the Indonesian government’s commitment to providing inclusive services for Hajj pilgrims.

The buses operate 24/7, covering areas where Indonesian pilgrims are staying, and are equipped with GPS and CCTV for monitoring purposes to ensure safety and comfort. Fauzin also mentioned that PPIH is collaborating with five bus companies to provide this service.

He reminded pilgrims that the bus service is included in the cost of their Hajj pilgrimage and that drivers are officially compensated, so tips are not required. Fauzin urged pilgrims to maintain comfort and order while using the service, ensuring a safe and smooth pilgrimage.

Indonesia is set to dispatch 221,000 Hajj pilgrims in 2025, with 4,420 officers. As of May 13, 85,195 Indonesian pilgrims have already departed for Saudi Arabia. (BL/Antara)
