At the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, Prabowo is scheduled to present the economic ideas that have long served as his framework for developing the national economy.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said that in the global forum, Prabowo will outline the government’s economic policy direction—popularly referred to as “Prabowonomics.”

The concept has previously been discussed in depth in domestic academic settings.

Syamsul Bahri, a member of the Expert Council of Prabowo-Gibran’s National Campaign Team (TKN), presented a paper titled “Strategies to Achieve Food Self-Sufficiency in the Prabowonomic Concept” at an event held at the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) office on Gatot Soebroto Road, Jakarta, on Friday (Nov. 29).

In his presentation, he described Prabowonomics as a development approach rooted in the Pancasila economic ideology, with each principle used as a foundation for state policymaking.

What Is Prabowonomics?
Prabowonomics is a term used to describe the economic policy direction of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration with Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

The concept grew out of the vision promoted during the 2024 presidential election, with the stated aim of improving public welfare as the core of Indonesia’s national economic development.

In practice, Prabowonomics places food and energy sovereignty at the center of policy, while also seeking to strengthen the competitiveness of domestic industry so that Indonesia develops a more self-reliant economic structure and becomes more resilient to global shocks.

Through this approach, the government is targeting economic growth of up to 8%, alongside a gradual, measurable push to eliminate absolute poverty.

Sukamta, a member of the House of Representatives’ Budget Agency (Banggar), called the growth target ambitious.

Still, he said it reflects the government’s long-term vision to build a stronger, more sustainable national economic foundation capable of withstanding future challenges.

What Programs Are Included in Prabowonomics?
On multiple occasions, President Prabowo has reiterated his commitment to deliver campaign promises packaged into 17 priority programs and eight flagship initiatives.

Planned steps include opening new rice fields, ensuring targeted distribution of subsidized fertilizer, providing high-quality seeds, using modern farm equipment, and expanding access to low-interest financing.

2. Energy Security
The policy includes increasing oil and gas production, stabilizing energy prices, and accelerating the transition to clean energy.

Energy subsidies will be redesigned to be fairer and better targeted, while the development of renewable power plants—such as solar, hydropower, and geothermal—will be intensified to position Indonesia as a leader in green energy.

3. Free Nutritious Meals Program (MBG)
The MBG program targets students, pregnant women, and toddlers across all provinces, with a stated target of 82.9 million beneficiaries.

Beyond addressing malnutrition, the initiative is expected to strengthen local economies and create new jobs.

4. Quality Education
The government has allocated Rp757.8 trillion in the draft 2026 state budget (RAPBN) for education, described as the largest education allocation in Indonesia’s history.

The focus includes improving teacher competency, strengthening vocational education, and aligning curricula with labor market needs.

5. Fair and Equal Healthcare for All
Healthcare spending is geared toward expanding National Health Insurance (JKN) coverage, improving home-based health facilities, reducing stunting, providing nutrition support for pregnant women and toddlers, and controlling infectious diseases such as tuberculosis.

The Free Health Check program (CKG) has also been introduced to improve the quality of public services.

6. Strengthening the People’s Economy through Koperasi Merah Putih (KMDP)
The government plans to establish 80,000 KMDPs to ease rural access to staple goods, fertilizer, and financial services.
