TasteAtlas has released its list of the world’s best dishes for 2026. The ranking is based on reviews from food lovers around the globe, and it highlights traditional fare from a wide range of countries.
An Indonesian dish has made it into the top five of TasteAtlas’ best dishes in the world for 2026. Goat satay (sate kambing) sits alongside several iconic staples from other culinary traditions. Here are TasteAtlas’ five best dishes in the world for 2026.
1. Vori-Vori (Paraguay)

Vori-vori, also known as bori-bori, is a traditional Paraguayan soup widely loved for its warmth and comforting character. The dish features a chicken or beef broth simmered with vegetables, topped with small balls made from a mixture of corn flour and cheese—its signature element.
Vori-vori is known for a savory flavor and a satisfying mix of textures. It relies on simple seasonings such as bay leaves and parsley, with a yellow tint often associated with turmeric. Popular across Paraguay, it is named the world’s best soup on the list.
2. Pizza Napoletana (Italy)

Pizza Napoletana is Naples’ traditional pizza and is often regarded as one of the world’s most iconic and authentic styles. It uses a well-fermented wheat-flour dough, topped with fresh tomato sauce, mozzarella and basil, then baked in a very hot wood-fired oven. Its hallmark is a puffy, soft rim with a thin center.
3. Tajarin al Tartufo Bianco (Italy)

Tajarin al Tartufo Bianco is a pasta specialty from Piedmont, Italy, made with tajarin—thin, long strands typical of the region. The pasta is dressed simply with butter and pepper, then finished with shavings of Alba white truffle, prized for its intense aroma.
The result is a minimalist dish that reads as elegant, driven by the truffle’s luxurious fragrance and supported by a touch of Parmigiano for depth. It is also considered one of the most premium pasta dishes in the world due to the rarity and aromatic quality of white truffle.
4. Sate Kambing (Indonesia)

One of Indonesia’s traditional favorites has entered the global top five: sate kambing, or goat satay. Satay comes in many variations—chicken, goat and beef among them—typically cut into cubes and marinated in a mixture that can include sweet soy sauce, galangal, shallots and chili, then skewered on bamboo sticks and grilled over charcoal. It is commonly served with sweet soy sauce, sambal and peanut sauce, and is often eaten with steamed rice or lontong (compressed rice cakes).
5. Cağ Kebab (Turkey)

Cağ Kebab is a traditional specialty from Erzurum, Turkey, made from lamb marinated with seasonings such as onion, salt and pepper. The dish stands out for its method: the meat is stacked on a large skewer and roasted over a wood fire.
Its horizontal roasting technique differs from more familiar kebab styles, producing meat that is notably juicy with a distinctive smoky aroma. It is typically served with lavash bread and fresh onions.
