Jakarta – Indonesia is set to field 11 athletes at the World Climbing Series Madrid 2026, scheduled to take place in Alcobendas, Spain, from May 28 to 31.
The Indonesian Climbing Federation (FPTI) will compete in two disciplines—speed and boulder—with the aim of improving on its previous performance at the Wujiang series in China.
According to the official roster released by FPTI, nine athletes will compete in the speed category, while two climbers are assigned to the boulder discipline.
In the boulder event, Indonesia will be represented by Ravianto Ramadhan and Rivandi Ramadhan, both expected to face stiff competition from elite international climbers.
Meanwhile, the men’s speed team consists of Raharjati Nursamsa, Antasyafi Robby Al Hilmi, Aditya Tri Syahria, Veddriq Leonardo, and Kiromal Katibin—names that have consistently been part of Indonesia’s core speed climbing lineup.
On the women’s side, Indonesia will rely on Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi, Kadek Adi Asih, Rajiah Sallsabillah, and Berthidgna Devi Surya Kusuma to deliver strong performances.
Participation in Madrid carries particular significance for the Indonesian team following a less-than-satisfactory showing at the World Climbing Series Wujiang 2026.
At the Wujiang event, Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi emerged as the sole medalist for Indonesia, providing a bright spot in an otherwise challenging outing for the national squad.
At that time, FPTI had also sent nine speed athletes—five men and four women—but the men’s team failed to secure a podium finish.
The results in Wujiang have since become a key point of evaluation for the federation, serving both as a learning opportunity and as motivation for the athletes heading into Madrid.
The Madrid series is expected to be one of the most competitive events on the international climbing calendar, bringing together top athletes from around the world in both speed and boulder disciplines.
Indonesia enters the competition with renewed optimism, aiming to return to the podium and reaffirm its position as a global force in sport climbing.
