- Pertamina has urged Indonesians to adopt responsible fuel consumption following a significant increase in non-subsidized fuel prices.
- The company emphasized that subsidized fuel should be reserved for lower-income groups, while wealthier consumers shift to higher-quality non-subsidized options.
- Pertamax prices rose sharply in June 2026, while subsidized fuel prices remain unchanged to protect vulnerable groups.
Jakarta – State-owned energy company PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has called on the public to use fuel more wisely following a sharp increase in the price of non-subsidized fuels, including Pertamax and Pertamax Green.
Speaking in Badung, Bali, on Wednesday, Corporate Secretary Roberth Marcelino Verieza Dumatubun encouraged consumers to be more selective in their energy consumption. He emphasized that responsible fuel use should become a collective movement across all segments of society.
“We urge the public to be more mindful and selective. Let us promote a culture of responsible energy consumption that can be adopted by everyone,” Roberth said.
He also reassured motorists who had previously switched from subsidized fuels, such as Pertalite, to non-subsidized options that the recent price adjustments should not be a cause for concern.
According to him, non-subsidized fuels offer higher quality and are more environmentally friendly due to their higher Research Octane Number (RON).
“For those who can afford it, we encourage the use of non-subsidized fuel with higher RON, as it provides better performance and is more environmentally friendly,” he added.
Roberth further stressed that subsidized fuels are intended primarily for public service vehicles, motorcycles, and lower-income communities.
“We want to ensure that subsidized fuel is used by those who truly need it, so their allocation and access are not compromised,” he said.
He warned that misuse of subsidized fuel by more affluent consumers could reduce availability for those who depend on it for daily economic activities.
“Our goal is to ensure that those who rely on subsidized fuel can continue to work and carry out their activities without disruption, while those who are financially capable shift to non-subsidized options,” he explained.
Based on Pertamina’s latest retail fuel price list at gas stations as of June 10, 2026, the price of Pertamax (RON 92) has surged from Rp12,300 to Rp16,250 per liter. Meanwhile, Pertamax Green 95 (RON 95) has risen from Rp12,900 to Rp17,000 per liter.
Other non-subsidized fuels remain unchanged, including Pertamax Turbo (RON 98) at Rp20,750 per liter, Dexlite (CN 51) at Rp23,000 per liter, and Pertamina Dex (CN 53) at Rp24,800 per liter.
Subsidized fuel prices, however, have been kept stable, with Pertalite priced at Rp10,000 per liter and Biosolar at Rp6,800 per liter.
