JAKARTA, INDONESIAN POST — Indonesian police have named presidential chief of staff and former national police chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo a suspect in an alleged wiretapping case involving President Prabowo Subianto. Police criminal investigation chief Comr. Gen. Asep Safrudin announced the decision at a news conference at national police headquarters in Jakarta on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
“Based on the investigation, investigators have named three suspects,” Asep said, identifying one by the initials LSP.
Police also named two other suspects: the head of the national police’s legal division, Insp. Gen. Ahrie Sonta Nasution, and Insp. Gen. Eko Hadi Santoso.
“The suspects are alleged to have conducted unauthorized wiretapping targeting the Indonesian president, state officials, political figures, media outlets, leaders of community organizations and nongovernmental organizations,” Asep said.
Before the announcement, reports that several police generals had been taken into custody remained unconfirmed. With no official explanation yet from national police headquarters, speculation intensified. Two sets of initials, LSP and AS, emerged in reports about the alleged questioning of senior police officers.
Those reports alleged that LSP had been taken to national police headquarters to answer questions about suspected wiretapping within the presidential palace. AS, meanwhile, was reportedly questioned at the headquarters of the police’s Mobile Brigade in Kelapa Dua, Depok, West Java.
Claims also circulated that AS had provided information about alleged wiretapping orders linked to LSP.
