JAKARTA, INDONESIAN POST — Indonesian police have named three people, including presidential chief of staff Listyo Sigit Prabowo, suspects in a case involving alleged illegal wiretapping, deletion of electronic data and unauthorized access.
“Investigators have named three suspects with the initials LSP, ASN and EH,” police criminal investigation chief Commissioner General Asep Safrudin told a news conference at the national police’s Criminal Investigation Department in Jakarta on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
The other suspects are the head of the national police’s legal division, Inspector General Ahrie Sonta, and Inspector General Eko Hadi Santoso. President Prabowo Subianto was among those allegedly targeted.
“They are suspected of illegally wiretapping the Indonesian president’s phone number,” Asep said.
Police also suspect the three of wiretapping other political figures, as well as journalists and businesspeople.
“State officials, political figures, media, leaders of community organizations, nongovernmental organizations and businesspeople,” Asep said, listing other alleged targets.
Asep said the suspects allegedly conducted the illegal wiretapping in 2025 and 2026 for purposes unrelated to law enforcement. They are also suspected of deleting activity logs in October 2026.
“Monitoring and wiretapping activities should comply with the rules,” he said.
