Indonesians Evacuated from Iran: 70+ Citizens Arrive Safely, Ministry Announces

Jakarta, Indonesianpost.com – Reported by Antara, A total of 73 individuals out of the 97 evacuated from Iran, including an Iranian citizen married to an Indonesian, have safely arrived in Indonesia, the Foreign Affairs Ministry announced on Friday.

“The Indonesian government successfully evacuated 73 individuals, comprising 72 Indonesian nationals and one Iranian national,” said Judha Nugraha, the director for the protection of Indonesian citizens at the ministry, in a written statement.

The remaining 24 Indonesian nationals are currently in Baku, Azerbaijan, awaiting their return flights, which are scheduled for June 28, 29, and 30, Nugraha added.

Six evacuees are set to depart from Baku on June 28, with transit stops in Doha and Bangkok. Another five will fly out on June 29, while the final group of 13 is scheduled to leave on June 30, also with stopovers in Doha.

“The Foreign Ministry is working closely with the Indonesian embassies in transit countries to ensure a safe and smooth evacuation process,” Nugraha noted.

In addition to the evacuees from Iran, the government has facilitated the evacuation of three Indonesians from Houthi-controlled northern Yemen with assistance from the Indonesian Embassy in Muscat, as well as two others from Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, with support from the Indonesian Embassy in Amman. All five arrived in Jakarta on Wednesday.

In a separate statement, Nugraha confirmed that the Indonesian embassies in Muscat and Amman have raised their alert levels to Level 1—the highest status—for their respective regions, which include Jordan, Israel, and Palestine.

Foreign Minister Sugiono declared a Level 1 alert for Iran on June 18, following the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel.

According to the Foreign Ministry, a total of 97 individuals opted for evacuation from Iran, including 96 Indonesian nationals and one Iranian married to an Indonesian citizen. (BL)
