Jakarta, Indonesianpost.com – The Ministry of Transportation has confirmed Indonesia’s preparedness for the upcoming civil aviation safety audit by the International Civil Aviation Organization’s Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme (ICAO USOAP) in 2025.

“The ICAO USOAP audit evaluates civil aviation safety standards in all ICAO member countries,” said Syamsu Rizal, Director of Aviation Navigation at the Directorate General of Air Transportation, during a confirmation on Thursday.

Rizal stated that, to ensure Indonesia’s readiness, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation held a five-day ICAO USOAP audit workshop in Jakarta from May 5-9, 2025. This workshop was organized in collaboration with France’s Direction Générale de l’Aviation Civile (DGAC) to support the ICAO USOAP internal audit process and enhance the capacity of both auditors and auditees within the Directorate General.

“Experts from Bureau Veritas, appointed by DGAC, participated as speakers to assist Indonesia,” Rizal added.

Rizal, representing Acting Director General of Air Transportation, Lukman F. Laisa, underscored the importance of this activity in ensuring Indonesia’s readiness for the ICAO flight safety audit.

The internal audit, guided by protocol questions from the 2024 edition of the ICAO USOAP, is a proactive measure by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation to identify areas for improvement and strengthen the national aviation safety oversight system.
