Ukrainian Foreigner Steals 3 Suitcases at Ngurah Rai Airport Bali, Victims Lose IDR 270 Million

Badung, Indonesianpost.com – A foreign national (WNA) from Ukraine with the initials GT was arrested by the Ngurah Rai Airport Area Police. The woman, who works as a lawyer, stole three suitcases at the lost and found counter at the arrival terminal of Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali.

As reported by detikBali, GT took three suitcases on Friday (July 21, 2023). The 33-year-old woman took the suitcases between 03:00 AM and 06:00 AM local time. Due to GT’s actions, the victims suffered losses totaling approximately IDR 270 million.

“The three passengers who owned the suitcases are named Wu Jiehao, Zampeli/Afroditi, and another passenger,” said Kasat Reskrim Iptu Rionson Ritonga in a press release on Thursday (July 27, 2023).

After receiving the report of the missing items, the Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) along with the Garuda Bhuana Special Team investigated and examined CCTV footage at the location where the items were lost. Based on the CCTV observation, GT was seen taking the belongings of the victims.

On Sunday (July 23), the three suitcases were found damaged with their contents scattered at an accommodation in Uluwatu, Badung, where GT had briefly stayed. The police then searched for the perpetrator and found her in the Pecatu area, South Kuta, Badung.

“Our special team continued the pursuit on the same day, around 12 PM, and successfully found the WNA suspect with the initials GI, passport number PU28xxxx, at a hotel in the Pecatu area, South Kuta (Badung). The suspect, along with the evidence, was taken to the Airport Police for further investigation,” revealed Rionson.
