The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) has partnered with the National Land Bank (Badan Bank Tanah) to strengthen Indonesia’s land governance through research, innovation, and evidence-based policymaking.

This commitment was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between BRIN and the National Land Bank, focusing on optimizing the use of research and innovation for better land management.

Acting Head of the National Land Bank Hakiki Sudrajat said the collaboration aims to ensure that state land management is not only compliant with regulations but also adaptive to scientific and technological developments as well as community needs. The Land Bank, he added, is committed to opening wide opportunities for collaboration with national research institutions.

“Land management can no longer rely solely on administrative approaches. It requires strong research, innovation, and data support to ensure policies are well-targeted and truly beneficial to society,” Hakiki said in a statement quoted by Detikcom on Saturday (Jan 24, 2026).

Hakiki further noted that the National Land Bank currently manages approximately 34,767 hectares of land across Indonesia. Through synergy with BRIN, he hopes to create a more inclusive, innovative, and sustainable land management ecosystem that provides long-term benefits for the public and supports national development.

“We expect this partnership to produce real innovations on the ground—from planning to productive, sustainable, and equitable land use,” he added.

In response, BRIN Head Arif Satria emphasized that the collaboration reflects the agency’s commitment to ensuring research and innovation outcomes are practically applied in public policy and national development.

“BRIN is encouraging that research and innovation results should not stop at academic publications but be implemented to meet real development needs. This partnership with the Land Bank illustrates how research can contribute to data-driven, sustainable, and welfare-oriented land governance,” Arif said.

The collaboration is also expected to generate tangible benefits for key partners of the National Land Bank, including Agrarian Reform subjects under the Land Bank’s Management Rights (HPL). Through this partnership, participants will gain access to training in appropriate technologies for improving land use.

“BRIN can serve as a source of innovations that the Land Bank can apply in the field. We are ready to provide technological support for land utilization and look forward to continued collaboration. We wish the Land Bank every success,” Arif concluded.
