Jakarta, Indonesianpost.com – Reported by Antara, President Prabowo Subianto has donated 985 sacrificial cattle to commemorate the 2025 Eid al-Adha, which will be celebrated on Friday, June 6.

Juri Ardiantoro, Deputy Minister of State Secretary, announced the donation during a press briefing at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Thursday. He explained that the sacrificial cattle would be distributed to the community through regional governments.

“Through the regional governments, the cattle will be sent to mosques and other designated places of worship, as directed by local authorities,” Ardiantoro said.

A total of 607 cattle will be distributed across 38 provinces, 514 districts, and cities, with 55 areas receiving two cattle each due to local cattle not meeting the President’s weight standards of 800 kilograms to 1.3 tons.

Additionally, 378 cattle have been distributed directly to community leaders, Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), and social groups.

Ardiantoro emphasized that all the sacrificial cattle are healthy and meet Islamic standards for sacrifice. The Animal Health Office has conducted thorough health checks and issued health certificates for the cattle.

“The cattle are of appropriate age, free from disabilities, and come from superior breeds such as Limousin, Brahman, and Simmental,” he added. “The heaviest sacrificial cattle, weighing 1.3 tons, were sourced from West Java and Mukomuko district in Bengkulu.”

The sacrificial animal donation is also aimed at empowering livestock farmers. This year, the central government purchased cattle from 573 farmers across various regions.

Ardiantoro expressed his hope that the sacrificial cattle would be properly cared for and provide maximum benefit to the recipients. (BL)
