Jakarta – PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas), a key unit of Indonesia’s gas subholding under state energy giant PT Pertamina, is intensifying the implementation of occupational health and safety (K3) protocols. This move serves as the bedrock for maintaining the operational reliability of the nation’s critical energy infrastructure, aligning with government mandates to boost productivity and national competitiveness through sustainable business practices.

The company’s dedication to safety recently earned high-level international recognition. Pertagas secured the Gold (Level 4) award at the 2026 WSO Indonesia Safety Culture Award (WISCA), organized by the World Safety Organization (WSO) Indonesia. In a dual victory, Pertagas President Director Indra P. Sembiring was also honored with the “Concerned CEO – Top Leadership” award, acknowledging his pivotal role in embedding a sustainable safety culture throughout the organization.

The accolades were presented to Sembiring during a ceremony on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the Bidakara Hotel in South Jakarta. The event coincided with the national K3 month, World Day for Safety and Health at Work, and International Firefighters Day.

Speaking at the event, Sembiring emphasized that Pertagas consistently advocates for a Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) culture that permeates every level of the company—from top management and employees to third-party partners. He noted that such rigor is essential for ensuring that energy infrastructure operations remain optimal in supporting Indonesia’s energy resilience.

“We are committed to evolving into a company with a world-class safety culture. For us, safety is not merely about regulatory compliance; it is a core value and a work ethic practiced by every individual in every operational task,” Sembiring stated.

He further explained that strengthening HSSE culture is vital for reliable, safe, and sustainable energy operations, particularly in oil and gas distribution and the development of national energy distribution infrastructure.

The 2026 WISCA award followed a rigorous verification process and Focus Group Discussions (FGD) conducted by an independent team from WSO Indonesia, ensuring the evaluation remained objective and professional.

Pertagas Vice President of HSSE, Rotua Elyzabeth, added that the achievement reinforces the company’s pledge to apply HSSE principles consistently across all operational activities.

“This milestone motivates us to maintain best practices in health and safety. It is not just about business sustainability, but about ensuring the reliable delivery of energy to the public and national industries,” Elyzabeth concluded.
