Jakarta – Led explosions were reported early Wednesday morning on Iran’s Qeshm Island, prompting a swift military response from Tehran that escalated tensions across the Gulf region.

According to Iranian media outlets cited by Anadolu Agency, multiple blasts were heard across parts of the island, though initial reports provided limited detail on the cause or impact. Mehr News Agency confirmed the explosions but did not elaborate further.

State broadcaster IRIB later reported that the blasts occurred near the areas of Suza and Masen on Qeshm Island. Preliminary assessments suggested that the explosions were likely caused by a projectile that landed in an uninhabited area between the two locations, minimizing the risk of civilian casualties.

In response to the incident, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched retaliatory strikes targeting what it described as United States military installations in Kuwait, Iraq, and Bahrain.

In an official statement, the IRGC claimed responsibility for the missile attacks, stating that the operation was a direct response to what it called an attack on Qeshm Island. The force said its aerospace division carried out “precise and concentrated missile strikes” against US military facilities in the three countries.

The situation marks a sharp escalation in regional tensions, with potential implications for security dynamics across the Gulf.
