Lombok, Indonesianpost.com – State-owned airport operator, PT Angkasa Pura I (AP I), will adjust the operational hours of Lombok International Airport in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) to operate 24 hours during the MotoGP event at Mandalika Circuit.
“On October 13-16, 2023, Lombok Airport will operate for 24 hours, from the previous 14 hours,” AP I General Manager at Lombok International Airport Rahmat Adil Indrawan stated in Praya on Wednesday.
In order to support the airport’s operation during the MotoGP event, the airport management has readied 96 daily operational personnel from AP I, Immigration, Customs, Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI), National Police (Polri), and Port Health Office, he remarked.
“We are ready to support the Mandalika MotoGP race,” Indrawan stated.
According to Indrawan, infrastructure and services at the airport had been readied, with similar preparations for the Superbike World Championship (WSBK) and the 2022 MotoGP as well as for the 2023 Hajj pilgrims.
Several supporting infrastructure facilities at Lombok Airport have also been improved and tested to serve the operation of the WSBK and 2022 MotoGP, he remarked.

“Lombok Airport is ready to serve planes arriving for the 2023 MotoGP event. The runway has been extended, from 2,750 meters to 3,300 meters, and its carrying capacity has been increased,” Indrawan revealed.
Regarding additional flights at Lombok Airport during the 2023 MotoGP Mandalika, to date, 44 additional flights on domestic routes have been proposed by four airlines, he stated.
“For the October 10-17 period, Garuda Indonesia proposed 26 additional flights; Citilink, eight flights; Super Air Jet, four flights; and Air Asia, with six flights,” Indrawan revealed.
Logistics from Dorna Sports have also arrived at the Mandalika Circuit via land from Bali through the Lembar Port. Moreover, after the MotoGP Japan ended, 111 tons of logistics for Mandalika MotoGP had arrived in Lombok aboard cargo planes and were taken by trucks to the Mandalika Circuit, he stated.
The MotoGP Mandalika will be held on October 13-15, 2023. Earlier, the Mandalika Circuit had also hosted the MotoGP series on March 18-20, 2022.
