JAKARTA (Indonesian Post) — Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned Israel’s military interception of several vessels involved in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0, an international humanitarian mission, near Cypriot waters in the eastern Mediterranean.

At least 10 vessels have been confirmed detained so far, including ships carrying Indonesian nationals, among them humanitarian activists and journalists. Officials said the situation remains highly dynamic, with further developments still possible.

The ministry called on the Israeli government to immediately release all detained vessels and crew members involved in the humanitarian mission, and to ensure the continued delivery of aid to the Palestinian people in accordance with international humanitarian law.

Since the early stages of the incident, the ministry, through its Directorate for the Protection of Indonesian Citizens (PWNI), has coordinated with Indonesian embassies in Ankara, Cairo and Amman to prepare anticipatory measures to ensure their safety and accelerate repatriation efforts.

The ministry has also maintained communication with relevant parties to obtain the latest information on the condition of Indonesian nationals, while preparing contingency measures, including protection assistance and expedited repatriation if required.

The Indonesian government reiterated that protecting its citizens abroad remains its top priority as the situation continues to evolve rapidly. (Kemlu/Bilah)
