Jakarta – Police have uncovered the tactics used by a man identified as HW, the hitman responsible for the murder of a South Korean national, BS, in Tambun, Bekasi Regency, West Java. HW allegedly disposed of CCTV footage and the knife used in the killing in the Kalimalang River.

“HW threw his laptop, CCTV DVR, and the knife into the Kalimalang River to eliminate traces of the crime,” said Bekasi Metro Police Chief, Kombes Sumarni, in a phone interview on Wednesday (3/6/2026).

HW is also reported to have destroyed other evidence by burning the hoodie he wore during the attack. The items were set ablaze near his workplace.

“To cover his tracks, HW burned the clothing he wore during the murder: a blue hoodie, a black cap, and gray gloves,” Sumarni added.

It was revealed that HW was hired by a woman, SJ, the victim’s ex-wife, to carry out the murder. HW reportedly received hundreds of millions of rupiah for the job.

“Investigations also found that SJ provided HW with a total of IDR 139 million in staged payments to carry out the murder,” Sumarni explained.

Before executing the crime, HW had conducted multiple surveillance sessions on the victim. On the day of the attack, he entered the house wearing clothing and gear designed to conceal his identity.

As HW entered the home, the victim, who was in the dining area, noticed him and spoke briefly. HW then attacked, repeatedly stabbing BS in the left side of the abdomen. Following this, he struck the back of the victim’s head with a heavy object, killing him instantly. The victim was discovered lying in a pool of blood by his daughter on Wednesday (27/5).

Motive Behind the Murder

Police stated that SJ orchestrated the brutal killing. She reportedly confessed that her actions were driven by resentment.

“Further investigation indicates that SJ’s motive was rooted in longstanding anger and personal conflict with the victim,” Sumarni said.

In addition, Sumarni disclosed that SJ’s motive included gaining control of the victim’s assets. She then hired HW to execute the plan.

“HW admitted to accepting the offer due to financial need and economic reasons,” Sumarni concluded.
