Internet Access at Sekolah Rakyat Paving the Way for Education Digitalization
Jakarta, Indonesianpost.com – Reported by Antara, The Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi) is committed to ensuring reliable internet access at Sekolah Rakyat (People’s Schools) to support digital learning and promote the digital transformation of education.
“Each Sekolah Rakyat site will be equipped with sufficient internet service to support the digital learning process,” said Alfreno Kautsar Ramadhan, Special Staff to the Minister, in a statement from Jakarta on Sunday.
This initiative is part of the government’s commitment to providing equitable and connected education, aligned with directives from President Prabowo Subianto.
Alfreno made these comments while representing Minister of Communications and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid during a visit to a Sekolah Rakyat location at the Polytechnic of Social Welfare (Poltekesos) in Bandung on Saturday, July 5.
According to Alfreno, digital connectivity is essential for expanding access and improving the quality of education, particularly for vulnerable groups.
“We want students at Poltekesos Bandung—and at all Sekolah Rakyat sites—to have access to the digital world, empowering them to build a brighter future,” he said.

The provision of internet access is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs and the Ministry of Social Affairs, which oversees Sekolah Rakyat, as part of the broader goal of ensuring adequate educational facilities for all Indonesians.
Alfreno emphasized that Sekolah Rakyat graduates are expected to become digitally literate and contribute as future leaders of Indonesia.
“We are not just producing graduates—we are shaping a generation of leaders who will guide Indonesia toward a more just, resilient, and sovereign future,” he said.
During his visit, Alfreno reviewed the digital infrastructure at Sekolah Rakyat in Bandung and assessed the internet bandwidth provided by Kemkomdigi to facilitate digital learning.
At the same location, Idit Supriadi Priatna, Secretary of the Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation at the Ministry of Social Affairs, explained that the visit was intended to ensure internet readiness at Sekolah Rakyat sites in Bandung. The city is set to launch at least three schools on July 14, 2025.
“These schools include those at Poltekesos, the Wyataguna Complex, and the Bandung City Vocational Training Center (BLK), with Bandung serving as a pilot city,” Idit explained.
Idit also clarified that the internet network and digital infrastructure would be funded by each Sekolah Rakyat site as part of its operational budget, rather than through Kemkomdigi or the host institutions. Each Sekolah Rakyat will function as an independent work unit, he added. (BL)
